Thanks to partnership agreements recently signed with Kent State and John Carroll universities, Ursuline College now offers Army and Air Force ROTC scholarships to its students.
The ROTC scholarships are available to qualified full-time first-year or sophomore Ursuline students in good academic standing who are between the ages of 17-26. Students accepted into the ROTC program qualify for scholarships covering all tuition and fees as well as book and living expense stipends. Ursuline has agreed to cover room and board for ROTC scholarship recipients.
“Apart from their financial advantages, ROTC scholarships also provide significant opportunities for students to develop strong leadership and managerial skills and lay the groundwork for a military career after graduation,” said Susan Dileno, vice president for enrollment management. “We are very pleased to be able to make these opportunities available to our students.”
ROTC is an elective curriculum that students take along with their required college classes. In addition to pursuing their academic major at Ursuline, ROTC students will attend classes in physical training, military science, and leadership at John Carroll (for the Army program) or Kent (for the Air Force program). In exchange for their tuition and fees, they commit to serving in the military after graduation.
ROTC, for Reserve Officer Training Corps, is offered at more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the United States to prepare young adults to become officers in the U.S. military.
