How has your experience at Ursuline College helped your career journey?
My experience at Ursuline College played a key role in shaping my career journey. The small class sizes allowed for personalized attention and helped me develop close relationships with my classmates that have lasted beyond graduation. I was also able to be a part of programs that helped me properly order my classes, ensuring I stayed on track. My advisor was a constant source of support, providing a variety of resources that helped me throughout my education. The challenging program pushed me to think critically and develop problem-solving skills that have been invaluable in my current role, and the hands-on experience and practical learning opportunities prepared me for real-world challenges. The supportive community at Ursuline continues to inspire me as I progress in my career.
How are you putting your Ursuline degree to work?
I am currently working at the Pediatric Heart Center at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, where I flex between the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and the Cardiac Step-Down Unit (CSDU). This unit cares for a variety of patients, many of whom have congenital heart defects (CHDs), which are the most common birth defect in the United States. My position allows me to apply the skills and knowledge gained from my Ursuline degree in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, supporting pediatric patients through critical and specialized heart care.
I am making my world more...IMPACTFUL!
I am making my world more impactful by continuing to develop my skills and expertise in pediatric care, ensuring I can provide the best possible care for children at Rainbow’s Heart Center. My focus extends beyond the patients to include their families and support systems, offering guidance and comfort throughout their care journey. While each patient may seem like a small piece of a nursing day, we never treat them as just another case. We often become a major part of their lives, and the care we provide can have a significant, lasting impact on their well-being.
